On the first day of training we will start the day off with handcuffing, focusing on the proper application of handcuffs and the legalities of making an arrest. You will learn about the different types of handcuffs and how they work, Tactical handcuffing and speedcuffing.
In the second half of the day we will be focusing on the proper use of both rigid and expandable batons. Rather than just striking with the baton, we will be focusing on methods of locks, holds, takedowns, come-alongs, pins as well as baton retention to manage and subdue violent and/or aggressive individuals.
On the second Day of training we will get into Ground defensive tactics. Approximately 65% of all altercations end up on the ground and as an armed or unarmed officer this is a dangerous place to be. It is important to remain calm and in control in these situations in order to subdue violent or aggressive individuals.
This course will teach you appropriate use of force, basic patterns of movement on the ground, blocks, traps, locks, escapes, takedowns, falling to the ground safely, and most important how to create distance, call for back-up, keep them at bay and escalate the force appropriately.
